Street-pop star Portable has publicly apologized after a video surfaced showing him slapping a pastor who came to preach at his bar. The incident, which took place a few days ago, sparked outrage on social media, with many criticizing the singer’s actions.
According to ODUNEWS, Portable faced backlash not only from netizens but also from other preachers who condemned the assault and threatened to take action against him for attacking a man of God.
In a video shared in the early hours of Monday, Portable addressed the controversy, attributing his behavior to past traumatic experiences. While pleading for forgiveness from God, he explained that he had reacted out of fear, believing the preacher might have been sent to harm him spiritually.
“My fans, community issues are different from that of the street. May God forgive me. I didn’t know he was a genuine man of God. If I knew I wouldn’t have slapped him,” Portable said in the video.
He added, “I’m also a child of God. I’m human, I’m not perfect. I am an orphan. They have harmed my sister through this same strategy.”
