Lagos State Government Arraigns 34 Joggers For Flouting Lockdown Order

34 residents in Lagos State have been arrested for exercising on the Gbagada-Oworonshoki Expressway, a direct violation of the lockdown to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

The 34 persons were paraded before the Lagos State Magistrate Court in Yaba, and they were arraigned on a one-count charge of violating the social distancing directive from the government.

Pictures of the joggers who assembled in large numbers on the highway to exercise had been shared on social media yesterday.

They pleaded guilty to the charge against them and were given a sentence of one month community service.

Additionally, the accused persons were ordered by the court that they would be pit in quarantine for 14 days at the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba, or any other place designated by the government.
