The name of the single parent is Peninah Bahti Kitsao, and she resides in Mombasa, Kenya.

Peninah works as a laundrywoman but due to the coronavirus outbreak, her customer base has reduced drastically, resulting in her not being able to raise money to feed herself and her family.

According to reports from tuko.co.ke, the widow said she always hoped her children would fall asleep while waiting for the ‘meal’ (stones) to get ready.

She revealed that the kids found it hard to sleep, and kept crying all night. This led to her formulating a plan.

I have boiled stones twice, with a hope that the children will go to bed and stop crying due to hunger“, Peninah said.

The troubled mother of eight disclosed that she and her children had gone to bed on empty stomachs several times, hoping for a well-wisher to come to their aid.

Just the other day, as I was boiling the stones for my children, they woke up in the middle of the night crying. One of my children told me that I have been lying to them that I’m cooking but boiling only stones“, Peninah added.

Her neighbor, Prisca Momanyi, was taken aback by the discovery and informed the media about the woman’s plight.

Luckily for Peninah and her children, after being interviewed, she has been getting help from people who made donations to her bank account.

Calling it a miracle, the widow said she couldn’t believe people would come to her rescue the way they did.
