Harvey Weinstein’s name has become synonymous with almost every form of sexual misconduct, the latest being that he raped an additional four women, one of whom was just 17 years old at the time.
Variety reports that on Thursday, May 28, 2020, a new lawsuit was brought against the embattled producer and businessman who is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape.
The lawsuit accuses Weinstein of raping four ladies from 1984 to 2013. One of the anonymous accusers (who was 17 at the time she says she was raped) alleges that Weinstein “falsely imprisoned, sexually assaulted, sexually battered and raped her.”
Referred to as Jane Doe II in the suit, the woman who is from Tennessee revealed that Weinstein asked her to his hotel room to talk about her prospective career in the industry.
She says Weinstein made her give him her driver’s license and told her that if she ever told anyone about what had just happened, he would not only make sure she never got a role in any films, but also have his associates track her down and physically harm her and her family.
The suit also names Weinstein’s brother, Miramax, and Disney, stating that they all “should have known that Weinstein had a propensity to engage in sexual misconduct and would use his position and power to lure the Plaintiffs and other aspiring female actresses to his apartments, hotel rooms, offices, etc under the guise of discussing business opportunities to sexually harass, batter assault, falsely imprison and rape them.”
The other plaintiffs include a 70-year-old woman from Ecuador who says that when she was 34, Weinstein pinned her against the door and touched her inappropriately in his hotel room at the Majestic Hotel in 1984. At the time she had been looking to get her start in the film business as a documentarian.
Another 38-year-old woman said Weinstein met her at Cipriani restaurant in Manhattan in 2008, promising to help “take her career to the next level.” He had allegedly raped her a few days later in his Soho apartment, threatening to ruin her if she told anyone.
Yet another allegation comes from a 35-year-old Hungarian woman who revealed that in 2013 (when she was 26) she met Weinstein at the Venice Film Festival. She was forced to give him oral s*x when she visited his hotel room after an audition at his office.
Weinstein has been accused by over 100 women of rape and sexual assault. He is expected to be extradited to Los Angeles later this year to face another assault case.
