The presidential candidate for the Labour Party, Peter Obi, addressed his supporters at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Lagos over the weekend.

He implored them to vote for actual people in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that past experiences of voting for logos, such as the broom and umbrella symbolizing the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party, respectively, have proven to be ineffective.

Obi stated that Nigeria’s poverty rate has increased and pointed to the National Bureau of Statistics’ report, which revealed that 133 million Nigerians were struggling with multidimensional poverty.

The report also showed that 63% of the population was facing poverty due to a lack of access to healthcare, education, and adequate living standards, as well as unemployment and other economic hardships.

In addition to his call to vote for human beings, Obi also pledged to apologize to victims of police brutality.

However, during the Labour Party rally in Lagos, four individuals were reportedly injured in an attack by suspected hooligans. The Lagos State Police have started investigating the incident, and witnesses are providing helpful information. The police have confirmed that measures were in place to maintain order and prevent such attacks.
