Tinubu must sack Wike as FCT minister, says social commentator

A social commentator has called on President Bola Tinubu to remove Nyesom Wike from his post as minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

The commentator did not specify what prompted the call, but the demand adds to ongoing scrutiny of Wike's performance in the role since his appointment in 2023.

Wike, a former Rivers State governor and a key Tinubu ally, has faced criticism over infrastructure projects in Abuja and concerns about the pace of development in the nation's capital. His tenure has been marked by both infrastructure initiatives and controversies surrounding land allocation and project execution.

The call for his removal reflects growing debate about ministerial accountability and performance in Tinubu's cabinet. Several groups and individuals have previously questioned the effectiveness of key appointees in the government, though few have made direct calls for dismissal.

It remains unclear whether this latest demand will gain traction among other commentators or civil society groups. Wike's relationship with the president has largely remained intact despite the occasional criticism from different quarters.
