In an event that saw the very best artists on the planet cart away some of the most prized recognitions, singer Billie Eilish stood tallest among them all, winning all four of the main categories.

While accepting the awards which included the Best New Artist and Song of the Year, Billie humbly stated that “so many other songs deserved” the honor and also gave fans the credit, saying that they had not been talked about enough.

The musician performed her ballad titled When the Party’s Over and it was one of the major highlights of the occasion.

Eilish is the first woman to take what is regarded as the big four Grammys in one night and hers was the big story of the event which held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

She became the second artist in Grammy history (and the first woman) to take home the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best New Artist and Song of the Year. The first artist who accomplished the feat was Christopher Cross 39 years ago.

At 18, Eilish is the youngest album of the year winner in Grammy history, trumping Taylor Swift who won the dame award when she was 20 years old.

Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell was born on December 18, 2000. She is an American singer and songwriter who began singing at a young age.

Her parents are actors and musicians; her father is Patrick O’Connell and her mother is Maggie Baird (she is also a screenwriter).

She was taught the basics of songwriting by her mother and wrote her first song at the age of four. Her parents were very supportive and encouraged her to express whatever she wanted, including art classes and acting.

Her brother is also a singer like her, writing, performing and producing his songs with his band since he was little.

She gained media attention in 2016 with the release of Ocean Eyes and her debut EP Don’t Smile At Me reached the number 15 spot in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.

Her first album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Was released in 2019 and debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart, becoming the best-performing album of 2019 in the US, and reaching number one in the UK.

Eilish has 13 platinum and four gold singles in the US and her achievements include five Grammy Awards, two American Music Awards, two Guinness World Records, and three MTV Video Music Awards.

The singer has revealed that she suffers from Tourette Syndrome (a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by blinking coughing, throat clearing, sniffing, and facial movements.

Eilish also has Synesthesia (a perceptual phenomenon in which the person sees things not really as they are but as stimulated by one sensory pathway) and has experienced depression.

She says she likes dressing out of her comfort zone primarily to feel like she grabs the attention of everyone around her.
