PARASITE STEALS THE SHOW
Bong Joon Ho’s Parasite triumphed at this year’s Academy Awards as it became the first non-English film to win Best Picture.
The movie is a satirical look at the inequality between the affluent and the poor and the director was vocal about drinking until the next morning to celebrate the win.
It took home the highest number of awards by winning four Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Directing, Best International Film Feature, and Best Writing).
The honor has put South Korea on the map when it comes to entertainment worldwide and the rest of the world will be looking to the nation for more great movies.
BRAD PITT WINS HIS FIRST EVER ACTING AWARD
Many have often wondered why an actor of Brad Pitt’s caliber hasn’t won any major acting awards. Because the dude is simply great and his latest effort in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood shows that age hasn’t slowed him down in any way.
Despite being in the film in a supporting role, Pitt’s acting talent, charm, effortless swagger, and screen charisma just make him nothing less than eye-candy.
Well, thank God that finally the actor has been rewarded as he accepted the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday.
The 56-year-old beat out fellow nominees Joe Pesci, Al Pacino, Tom Hanks, and Anthony Hopkins to clinch the award.
1917 CONTINUES ITS WINNING STREAK
Sam Mendes’ war drama 1917 has been stacking up awards since its release and at the 2020 Oscars, cinematographer Roger Deakins won his second Oscar.
Based on actual events, the story features two young soldiers who must make their way through enemy territory in a war-torn zone to send an important message that could turn the tide of the war.
1917 has so far won three Oscars, two Golden Globes, seven British Academy Film Awards, one Producers Guild of America Award, and one Directors Guild of America Award.
EMINEM RETURNS WITH A BANG
Veteran rap star Eminem was present to thrill the audience seventeen years after his song Lose Yourself won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
His return brought mixed reactions from the crowd as he had skipped the ceremony back in 2003 but no one could deny his ability as an entertainer as he did a rendition of the hit track from 8 Mile.
