Oscars: The Academy To Open Oscar Museum In December 2020

Building on the pomp and monumental impact of the 92nd Academy Awards held yesterday, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures will open an Oscar Museum in the latter part of the year.

The initial announcement was made eight years ago and in addition to exhibits, the museum will also offer specialty screenings and educational programs.

Speaking on the opening which will take place in December this year, director Bill Kramer noted:

We cannot wait to welcome the whole world to the Academy Museum. When our doors open on December 14, our thrilling combination of exhibitions, screenings, and public and educational programs will create unparalleled experiences for movie lovers everywhere.

At the prestigious ceremony yesterday, Parasite emerged the biggest winner of the night with four awards, and actor Joaquin Pheonix got another award for Best Actor.

Tom Hanks will serve as a co-chair of the Museum

The museum reportedly cost $388 million (much of it was gotten from fundraising and donations) and will be co-chaired by movie star Tom Hanks and actress Annette Bening.
