Few weeks after they both recovered fully from the coronavirus, Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have offered their blood to aid in the development of a vaccine.
The pair tested positive for COVID-19 in early March while Hanks was filming a biopic on Elvis Presley, and they had to go into quarantine, after which they made a full recovery and returned home to Los Angeles.
Speaking on NPR’s Podcast, Hanks said that last week, he and his wife had volunteered to donate their blood and plasma for COVID-19 vaccine research.
“A lot of the questions are what do we do now? Is there something we can do? And in fact, we just found out that we do carry the antibodies“, he said. “We have not only been approached, we have said, ‘Do you want our blood? Can we give plasma?“, he said.
The veteran actor also joked that he had a name ready if a vaccine is made from his blood donation.
“In fact, we will be giving it now to the places that hope to work on what I would like to call the ‘Hank-ccine“, he stated.
He finally assured the host that he and Wilson were feeling “just fine and dandy” after their battle with COVID-19.
