According to reports, Paramount has suspended its 3-week shoot of Mission Impossible 7 in Venice, Italy due to the government’s ban on public gathering as the number of reported coronavirus cases continues to increase.

In a press statement released by the Production Company, Paramount stated that its decision to suspend filming was to ensure the safety of the cast and crew.

Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7.

During this hiatus we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.

The latest reports have revealed that the spread of coronavirus in Europe has led to 219 confirmed cases in Italy and the halt of filming is a good decision on the part of Paramount.

The Mission Impossible movies have been met with generally positive reviews, generating about $3.57 billion. The seventh film is set for a release date of July 23, 2020, in the United Kingdom.
