Statham was billed to star opposite Kevin Hart but suddenly left the project as his request for the movie to be rated R was reportedly turned down.

The abrupt exit just six weeks to the start of filming led to the scramble for a new actor, and Sony picked Woody Harrelson as a replacement.

Man From Toronto will be directed by Patrick Hughes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard) and deals with a case of mistaken identity.

The plot sees the world’s deadliest assassin, known as the Man from Toronto, and a New York City screw-up run into each other, leading to a clash of personalities and a face-off with deadly killers.

The script for the film comes from Robbie Fox, with a story from Fox and Jason Blumenthal. The movie has a November 20, 2020 release date.
