‘Artemis Fowl’, an upcoming movie directed by Kenneth Branagh for Disney, will skip theaters and head straight to the company’s streaming platform.
Reports suggest that fans haven’t shown the same excitement for the film compared to Disney’s other movies. So, the decision was made to take to Disney +.
‘Artemis Fowl’ was set to open on August 9, 2019 before Disney moved it to May 2020.
Disney + president Ricky Strauss said:
“With audiences largely unable to attend theaters in the current environment, we are thrilled to offer the premiere of “Artemis Fowl” on Disney Plus.
Director Kenneth Branagh and his spectacular cast take viewers right into the vibrant fantasy world of the beloved book, which fans have been waiting to see brought to life onscreen for years.
It’s great family entertainment that is the perfect addition to Disney Plus’ summer lineup.”
‘Artemis Fowl’ joins Universal’s ‘Trolls World Tour’ and Paramount’s ‘The Lovebirds’ as the only films to opt for a streaming premiere.
