Sony Pictures is set to adapt a live-action film of the popular manga series One Punch Man.
One Punch Man, which is very popular in Japan and around the world, follows the story of Saitama, a superhero who can defeat any adversary with a single punch.
Saitama seeks to find a worthy opponent after growing tired of lack of challenges in his fight against evil.
The series was created in 2009 by Japanese artist ONE as a web comic. In a short time, it went viral and in 2012 was published.
One Punch Man became successful with a global sales of over 30 million copies. When the English edition was published in the United States, it made the New York Times manga bestseller list and was also nominated for an Eisner and a Harvey Award.
Its popularity led to a critically acclaimed anime series, as well as a video and mobile game.
