Movie Adaptations Of ‘Miraculous’ Animated Series Coming To Disney Plus, Samuel L’ Jackson and Ryan Reynolds Teaming Up Again & Dave Franco To Play Vanilla Ice In Biopic

Movie news roundup: ‘Miraculous’ series is getting two movie adaptations, Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds to voice two characters for an animated series, and hip-hop star Vanilla Ice to be portrayed by James Franco.

A pair of animated movies based on the popular Miraculous series will be made for ’s streaming platform.

According to Variety, the two movie projects are titled Miraculous World: New York – United HeroeZ and Miraculous World: Shanghai – Lady Dragon, and they have been acquired by Disney Plus for global premiere rights outside Brazil and China.

The 3D-CGI-animated TV films will be directed by Thomas Astruc, the force behind the series’ global success in over 120 regions.

The award-winning series follows the adventures of two seemingly typical teens who magically transform themselves into superheroes to fight evil in Paris.

Jeremy Zag, founder and CEO of ZAG said:

With our two new movies, we’re expanding the world of ‘Miraculous’ like never before as Ladybug and Cat Noir explore New York and Shanghai, and meet new superheroes as they take on treacherous villains far away from their home city of Paris.”

and are teaming up to star in and produce an upcoming animated series being developed for streaming service Quibi.

Titled Futha Mucka, the series logline reads:

Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds love each other. More accurately, Ryan loves Sam. When a minor mishap causes Sam to become Ryan’s primary caregiver, things get weird.”

Those who enjoyed seeing the pair together in The Hitman’s Bodyguard should get a kick out of the show which looks to be comedy-oriented.

Futha Mucka is created and executive produced by Jim and Brian Kehoe who also serve as showrunners. It will be created by the animation production company Titmouse.

Robert Matthew Van Winkle a.k.a. will be portrayed by actor in a biopic.

An American rapper, actor, and television host, Vanilla Ice achieved success in the 1990s and one of his singles was the first hip hop single to top American charts.

Per a report from Insider, Dave Franco will play the hip hop star in a film with the title To the Extreme, with a screenplay from Chris Goodwin and Phillip Van.

The project’s progress has been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and Franco stated, “We have been in development for a while but we are inching closer and closer to preproduction.

Speaking further, the actor revealed that he had been speaking with the artist.
