Disney Halts Production On Obi-Wan Series Over Story Concerns
Ewan McGregor will return to play the Jedi master

The Obi-Wan series which was set to premiere on Disney + has been put on hold as the studio looks for new scripts for the project.

Collider reports that the series which stars Ewan McGregor has been halted by Disney and that members of the cast and crew have been sent home.

The reports further state that Lucasfilm president and the series producer Kathleen Kennedy isn’t happy with the first two scripts and now the company is seeking new ones.

McGregor remains attached to the project as he reprises the famous character he played in the Star Wars movies. Also involved is Deborah Chow (she served as a director on The Mandalorian).

The Jedi masters keep the balance in the force

The Obi-Wan series had gone far into production and actors had been screen-tested with McGregor and speculations indicate that the reason for the dissatisfaction with the first scripts is the story being too close to what we saw in The Mandalorian.

According to THR, the original scripts for the Obi-Wan series was about the title character serving as a protector to the young Luke and Leia Skywalker, similar to the storyline in The Mandalorian.

Details of when production on the upcoming series will resume haven’t been revealed. Hopefully, that shouldn’t take too long.
