Africa, it seems, has its female Bond as seen in the trailer for Queen Sono, an upcoming crime drama series from Netflix.
From the opening frame, the viewer knows that the series is something amazing and its lead star Pearl Thusi has the sensual attributes and killer instincts to put the most competent of foes to shame.
Headstrong, rebellious, street-savvy, and sexy, Sono is a South African clandestine agent who tackles criminal operations while trying to deal with her personal life.
A unique woman with an incredible skill set, the heroine immediately captures the attention of the viewer as she goes from alluring to badass in no time!
Netflix still has the lead when it comes to the streaming giants and Queen Sono is such a smart move because nothing of the sort has been done before.
The action looks convincing, the plot is intriguing, and the protagonist has the ability to kill with her looks; what else does one need in a series of this caliber?
But more than the above, the success of the series will depend on the range shown by the female lead as it won’t be enough to show what she can do; a critical element is showing her inner battles and how she faces her personal demons.
Created by Kagiso Lediga and set to premiere on Netflix on February 28, 2020, Queen Sono stars Pearl Thusi, Vuyo Dabula, Sechaba Morejele, Chi Mhende, and Abigail Kubeka.
