According to recent details, the original black Captain America named Isaiah Bradley will be featured in the Disney + series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The upcoming series will follow Sam Wilson a.k.a. Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes a.k.a. Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) as they continue their fight to keep the bad guys at bay.
Set after what fans last saw as the aftermath of the war with Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will explore how the titular characters deal with life after the departure of Steve Rogers a.k.a. Captain America (Chris Evans).
Well, just how will the duo handle another Cap who happens to be the original black version of the superhero? That will be answered when the series arrives.
Slashfilm reports that their sources have stated that Isaiah Bradley, the original black Captain America will play a part in the Disney + series.
According to the report, Sam (Mackie) initially refuses to become the new Cap but has to change his mind when he finds out about the secret history of Isaiah Bradley.
In the comics, Bradley is among the 300 soldiers recruited by the government to partake in their attempts to create super soldiers after the death of Captain America.
Bradley is one of the few to survive the procedure and he takes on the mantle of Captain America in his last mission and is sentenced to life in prison for the act.
While serving time, Bradley’s mind and body deteriorate due to the side effects of the super-soldier serum and he is eventually released.
If the report is true, Bradley’s introduction could be a most welcome conflict as it is the final thing that makes Sam Wilson set aside his doubts to become the hero he must be.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier premieres on Disney + in August 2020.
