Operation Positive Identification: Army Denies Deploying Troops

Operation Positive Identification: Army Denies Deploying Troops

The Nigeria Army has denied claims of sending troops across the states of the nation to begin the Operation Positive Identification (OPI) exercise.

The denial comes following a number of Nigerian organizations giving travel warnings to their staff concerning the military operation.

The Army stated that the purpose of the operation was to apprehend former Boko Haram/ISWAP criminals in the North Eastern region of the country.

The operation is aimed at searching for and arresting all suspected erstwhile Boko Haram/ISWAP criminal elements that roam some parts of the North-Eastern part of the country. Consequently, members of the public are enjoined to always carry valid means of identification when moving or passing through the states of Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe.

The NA, once again, use this opportunity to enjoin all Nigerians not to panic on seeing an increased presence of military personnel and other security agencies as well as movement of Military vehicles /hardware.
