Akin Alabi Stirs Controversy on Twitter Over Roles of VP, Chief of Staff

Nigerian Politician and entrepreneur, Akin Alabi, has come under public scruitiny over a tweet where he opined that the post of the Chief of staff is more powerful than that of the Vice president.

The social media has been engaged in series of discussions after the chief of staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, was reported to have travelled abroad to present the amended Deep Offshore Act to the president for signing.

Reacting to the issue, Akin Alabi had stated that the chief of staff is more powerful than the vice president in a presidential system of government. This has however generated different reactions from twitter users.

I beg to differ Mr. Honourable, the President's Chief of staff is the presidents PA, he's the presidents strategist and confider, he has no executive powers over the vice President, he has no constituted authority over the vice President and as such not more powerful

Power in this context denotes influence of the COS on the president not on the constitutional hierarchy of the VP. For whatever it is worth,the country shouldn't be run like a freelancing gig or side hustle.
