This was disclosed by the President’s media aide, Garba Shehu via his twitter handle.
Garba said that the samples of the native remedy were brought by the President of Guinea Bissau, Umaro Embalo.
He also noted that President Buhari insisted that all necessary procedures will be put in place before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians.
“We have our institutions, systems and processes in the country. Any such formulations should be sent to them for verification. I will not put it to use without the endorsement of our institutions,” Buhari was quoted to have said.
President Muhammadu Buhari Saturday at the State House, Abuja, received the Madagascan native formulation against the #Covid-19 pandemic, and reiterated that he will listen to science before allowing traditional or any new medicines to be administered on Nigerians.

Odunews.com had earlier reported that the presidential task force on COVID-19 headed by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapha, disclosed that Madagascar offered the cure to Nigeria without the country making any request for it.
Speaking on Thursday, Mustapha said: “The issue of Madagascar. Let me explain that Nigeria did not ask Madagascar for any solution. That has to be very clear because I have seen some narratives out there giving credence to a line of story.”
“That, for me, is only distractive. Nigeria did not ask. The Madagascan government decided to airlift quantities meant for African countries and so that of West Africa was airlifted to Guinea-Bissau”, he added.
