He said, “The Commission as a strategic partner in the current efforts at tackling security challenges in the country has provided a credible platform to enrol and issue the National Identification Number (NIN) to repentant and reintegrated Boko Haram members, and also verify the data as at when needed.
“The National Identity Management Commission is one of the agencies involved in the DRR process capturing of all repentant Boko Haram combatants on its data making it easy for them to be traced in any unfortunate incident.
“This was stated recently by the coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General, John Enenche, at a media briefing on the armed forces of Nigeria operations particularly the “Operations Safe Corridor” that is tasked with the deradicalization, rehabilitation and reintegration (DRR) process of ex-Boko Haram combatants,” he said.
He further said that no repentant Boko Haram who has been reintegrated into the society will evade arrest if they reneged on the pledge, particularly with their data captured by the NIMC.
Engr. Aziz also reiterated the readiness of the Commission to provide accurate, reliable, secured and verifiable data when needed, adding that “The Commission has the capacity to support the FG in the ongoing war against security challenges through its functional and world-class verification and authentication services residual in its modern and up-to-date database”.
