Maxine Waters, a United States congresswoman has spoken about the death of George Floyd at the hands of the police officer in Minneapolis, saying that the culprit enjoyed doing it.
The California congresswoman says that the incident has her thinking that some cops wake up thinking, “I’m gonna get me one today”, adding that she suspects that the late Floyd was this cop’s one.
Waters who spoke on TMZ Live expressed her outrage over the killing of the black American. She told the news outlet that it had her reflecting on other killings of young black men by cops and white supremacists.
She said that the Minneapolis officer who kept his knee jammed on the back of Floyd’s neck for several minutes “enjoyed doing it.”
According to her, the policeman was out for blood and that’s the reason he didn’t care about citizens witnessing his actions or that the whole thing was being filmed.
The congresswoman stated that the police and white supremacists who think they can get away with murdering a black person feel empowered because of “dog-whistling” from President Donald Trump.
She also explained how the justice system has repeatedly failed millions of US citizens, which makes it of increasing importance that irrefutable video footage be made when crimes like this are committed.
