‘Birds Of Prey’: It’s Not A Team-Up Movie – Director

Cathy Yan, the director of the upcoming movie Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn, has said that the film is not about a team.

The film will see Harley Quinn (played by Margot Robbie) enlist the help of a few other females to take down the Gotham crime boss known as Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).

Yan’s statement comes a bit of surprise considering the bits from the trailer we have seen so far. But the director sheds more light on what we will get to see when the movie arrives, revealing that it is more of an ensemble than a team-up.

It’s truly an ensemble film, it’s not even a team. You see them as a team right now, but we really spend time with each of these women, and they are very much the protagonists in the film.

Harley herself is an antihero, so sometimes, she’s really good and really heroic, and sometimes she’s terrible and irresponsible, and can do a lot of harm. She’s such a complicated character, so all of the characters in the film are too.Cathy Yan – screenrant.com

Looks like we’re in for a different kind of movie than we thought but it’s all good because Yan’s words mean that each female character will get time to be expanded upon so we can know what makes them tick.

DC has reinvented itself and Joker’s phenomenal success is a testament to that. Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn should be another good film and fans will get a kick out of its unpredictability. It will be released on February 7, 2020, in the United States.
