The Kano state Government has announced the removal of Emir Mohammed Lamido Sanusi.
The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect.
The emir’s action violated the part 3 section A-E of Kano state law, hence the removal.
He said the removal was in line with consultation with relevant stakeholders.
The Government is expected to announce a new Emir soon.
Odunews.com had earlier reported that the State’s House of Assembly became rowdy during the plenary on Monday as the plan to remove the Emir was met with stiff opposition from members of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The pandemonium which resulted to physical combats among the lawmakers led to the suspension of the sitting for 30 minutes.
