The Lagos state Government says it has approved N2 billion as relief fund for victims of the gas explosion that rocked Abule Ado area of Lagos state on Sunday.
The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ,made this known while addressing journalists at the scene of the explosion.
No fewer than 17 persons lost their lives and lots of properties destroyed after the gas explosion on Sunday.
More than 50 buildings in the area were impacted by the explosion, as hundreds of residents were rendered homeless.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Commission stated that the explosion happened after some gas cylinders were hit by a truck.
The corporation explained that preliminary findings indicated that the impact of the explosion was so huge that it led to the collapse of nearby houses and damage to NNPC pipeline on which efforts are being made to curtail the resultant fire.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Mallam Mele Kyari and other top Management of the corporation departed for Lagos this evening for an on-the-spot assessment at the scene of the incident.
