The body of Shad Gaspard has been identified by the L.A. County Coroner.
Shad Gaspard’s body was found on Los Angeles’ Beach. It was first seen by a citizen who called the police at around 1.30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2020.
TMZ reports that according to law enforcement sources, officers responded and recovered the body near Venice Pier. This was followed by a news conference by the L.A. Fire Department in which it was revealed that the body found matches the description of Shad (six foot six in height and weighing 240 pounds).
Shad went missing on Sunday afternoon when a group of swimmers (including Shad and his son Aryeh) got caught in a rip current in the southern part of the Pier.
The former wrestler told lifeguards who had rushed to the rescue to get his son to the shore safely first. When they returned for him, he had gone under.
Police and Coast Guard boats and divers searched for Shad for almost 2 days before suspending their search. He is survived by wife Siliana and their ten-year-old son Aryeh. He was 39.
