A 45-year-old man in Imo State has been apprehended by the police for chaining and torturing his three children in a room.
The man, identified as Ochieze Chinedu Jude, blames the children for his misfortune and allegedly kept them chained.
Jude’s children – Success (12), Richard (11), and Confidence – were locked in a room where their father subjected them to constant torture on the suspicion that they were to blame for his impoverished life.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, revealed that operatives of the the command stormed Aboh in Umulolo, Okigwe Local Government Area, and arrested the suspect, rescuing the three children in the process.
Ikeokwu said:
Preliminary investigation revealed that he kept his children in chains and locked them up in a shop, and goes to hit the kids with a hammer intermittently, claiming that they are the architect of his misfortune.
The children have been rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment, while the suspect will bee prosecuted accordingly.”
