The University of Ibadan on Wednesday confirmed that Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, graduated from the institution.
A cross-section of Nigerians have questioned the authenticity of the governor’s certificate after it was made public by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2020 governorship election in the state
The National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, who has been at loggerheads with Obaseki, also inferred that the certificate could be fake.
Reacting through a statement, Registrar of University of Ibadan, Mrs Olubunmi O Faluyi confirmed that Obaseki indeed graduated from the institution.
The statement reads: “Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State graduated from the University of Ibadan where he studied Classics.
“Obaseki gained admission to the University in 1976 and graduated in 1979 with a Second Class Honours, Lower Division.
“Records of his Admission and Graduation are intact in the archives of the University.”
