Amid the back and forth on the effectiveness of hydroxychloroquine in curing COVID-19, the Federal Government says Nigeria has received 7-tons of the drug from India.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, announced this during the daily COVID-19 briefing on Thursday.
Mustapha expressed his gratitude to India for the donation, as well as other countries helping Nigeria fight COVID-19.
“The PTF wishes to thank friendly nations and corporate organisations for their continuing support through the donation of medicines and equipment,” he said.
“In this regard, we thank India for the donation of 7-tons of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of patients,” assuring that “the resources will be judiciously utilized.”
The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control announced 604 new COVID-19 cases in the country on Thursday bring the total infections to 38,948.
833 fatalities have been recorded while 16,061 persons have recovered from the disease.
