UNICAL Lecturer Shot After Attempt To Kidnap Him Failed

An attempt to kidnap a lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Calabar, Dr. Babatunde Abisoye Lawal on Friday, February 27, 2021 has failed.

Multiple sources in the university told OduNews.com that the lecturer fiercely resisted the armed kidnappers who traced him to his residence at the university’s staff quarters.

Angered that their attempt to whisk away the pharmacology lecturer met a brick wall, the kidnappers shot and wounded the lecturer in the thigh, hand and leg.

GRASSROOT REPORTERS gathered that Dr. Lawal has been rushed to an undisclosed medical facility where he is responding to medical treatment.

Confirming the incident to OduNews.com in an exclusive chat, the university’s Public Relation Officer (PRO), Mr. Effiong Eyo said:

“I have issued a statement to the university community already. It was an attempted kidnap but it failed”.
