1. NUJ Faults Journalists Shooting, Wants CP Redeployed
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, has called for the redeployment of the state’s commissioner of police, Wale Olokode following an attack on some protesters in the state. A journalist covering the protest was also shot by the police and this has led to the call by the NUJ.

2. APC Exco, Govs Divided Over Buhari’s Succession Plan, Screening Report Ready
President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan of imposing a “successor” in the All Progressives Congress presidential primary has caused division in the party.

3. FG Unwilling To Deal With Terrorists – Ortom
Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, has berated the Buhari-led administration for not doing enough to fight terrorism in the country. Ortom urged the international community to put pressure on the Federal Government to address the alarming acts of terrorism by armed herdsmen in the country without religious or ethnic bias.

4. Abducted Daughter of Kaduna Poly Lecturer Regains Freedom
Ameerah, daughter of the abducted Kaduna Kadpoly lecturer, Dr Ramatu Abarshi, has regained freedom after spending 38 days in a bandits’ den. She was released on Tuesday and moved to an undisclosed hospital for a medical check up, according to a source.

5. Tinubu Joining SDP A Mere Speculation – Oni
A former governor of Ekiti State, Segun Oni, on Wednesday described as ‘mere speculation’, reports that a former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, would join the Social Democratic Party. According to him, contrary to insinuations, the SDP was not in crisis over Tinubu and was not factionalised.

6. Over 20 million Voters Cards Yet To Be Collected By Owners – INEC
The Independent National Electoral Commission, on Wednesday, raised fears about the 2023 elections following the 20 million Permanent Voters Cards which are yet to be claimed by their owners. INEC’s Deputy Director (Voter Education), Mary Nkem, decried the poor participation of citizens in the ongoing continuous voters’ registration exercise.

7. Hijab Crisis: Kwara Reopens Oyun Baptist High School
Kwara State Government has directed the reopening of Oyun Baptist High School, in Ijagbo, Oyun Local Government Area, LGA, of the state. The school was shut down about three months ago, following a crisis between the Muslim and Christian stakeholders over students’ usage of the Hijab in the school during which one life was lost.

8. Nigeria, Spain Sign Nine MoU on Criminal Matters, Others
President Muhammadu Buhari has signed at least nine agreements and Memoranda of Understanding with the Spanish Government.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the agreements included Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters; Transfer of Sentenced Persons; Extradition; Economic and Commercial Cooperation; Tourism. Others were on sports, health; the fight against COVID-19, as well as science and innovation.

9. Divorce-seeking Wife Beats Husband To Pulp In Lagos
A 39-year-old man, Niyi Adeyemo, has accused his wife, Jumoke Bamgbola, 38, of beating him to a pulp during a disagreement at their residence on Love-All Street, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos State. Adeyemo, who was said to be suffering from arthritis, was admitted to a hospital after the alleged assault which happened on Monday.

10. Naira Exchanges At 419 Per Dollar
The Naira on Wednesday exchanged at 419 to the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window, compared to 419. 50 on Tuesday, representing 0.12 per cent appreciation. The open indicative rate closed at N418.21 to the dollar on Wednesday.
