The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Echeng Echeng handed out two cheques at the state police command’s headquarters to families from Anambra.
OduNews.com gathered that the cheques were from the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Scheme which seeks to boost morale in police officers.
To the delight of 15 families of deceased police officers, their commissioner delivered a check to each family on behalf of the IG. Each family received N9 million in honor of the officer lost.
The gesture is an initiative to help families of police officers who died while they were on duty and to spur police officers to perform well in their jobs.
Ikenga thanked the Inspector-General of Police for his effort to give a good welfare package to those in the force, and asked for beneficiaries to use the money wisely by investing in a profitable venture.
The CP assures the IGP that he and his officers will continue providing peace and safety in Anambra State.
OduNews.com observed that the beneficiaries of this project, who were primarily individuals whose spouses were victims of rampaging gunmen, previously in possession of Anambra State.
