The abductors of the two students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State and a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, have demanded N70 million ransom for their release.

Two students of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic were kidnapped on Friday night along with a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor from the University of Ibadan.

According to Vanguard, the incident happened near Sat Guru Maharaji Garden on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, a police officer was killed before the gunmen made away with their victims.

One of the MAPOLY students, Miss Oluwatobi Orekoya is a final-year business administration student.

It was further learned that the kidnappers have since contacted the families of their victims, demanding N50 million for the release of Professor Agbaje. Meanwhile, the parents of each of the students were asked to pay N10 million ransom.

When returning from Olabisi Onabanjo University to Ibadan, a vehicle carrying Professor Agbaje was ambushed, leaving him unharmed.

The incident was confirmed by the MAPOLY spokesman, Mr. Yemi Ajibola, in a telephone interview. “I was informed of the incident by the school Students’ Union President,” he said.

When interviewed, he noted that the institution’s management had taken necessary measures and contacted relevant authorities to ensure the safety of their release.

A spokesman for the NANS, Ogun Joint Campus Committee, Comrade Simeon Damilola Kehinde said the apex student body in the state is doing everything possible to ensure their release.

The President of the MAPOLY Student Union Government, Damilola Ajani, wants to make sure that certain details about the kidnapping are not made public. He has asked for public assistance to provide any monetary funds or prayers as the former students are in a holding pattern.

Trying to contact the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, proved unsuccessful. Calls to his phone were not going through.
