[ODUNEWS] January 26 – Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has threatened to issue arrest warrants for Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and other bank executives.
The Speaker on Thursday pledges to order the arrest of the CBN Governor and any managing directors of commercial banks who disobey the House’s invitation regarding the deadline for the phase-out of the old N1000, N500, and N200 naira notes and the limited supply of the new notes.
In response to a letter from Emefiele informing the House of its inability to honour the invitation to appear before an ad hoc Committee the House established to communicate with the apex bank and commercial banks regarding the deadline for the phase-out of the old notes, Gbajabiamila issued the threat on Thursday during plenary.
