Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal said on Saturday that Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar would reopen the country’s borders if elected in the 2023 general election.

The assertion was made by the Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council during a PDP campaign rally in the state’s Illela Local Government Area.

The PDP presidential candidate, he claims, has better plans for the country.

“These include reopening the nation’s borders, addressing insecurity challenges, and providing basic necessities of life for Nigerians,” he said.

The governor also stated that his administration in the state felt strongly for the people of Illela, which was one of the hardest hit areas by bandit attacks.

“However, despite challenges of insecurity, economic recession and the negative impact of COVID-19, we have executed several projects under healthcare, education, water supply and social interventions, among others,” he said.

In his remarks, the DG of the Sokoto Campaign Management Council, Alhaji Yusuf Sulaiman, urged the people of the area to vote for the PDP in order to ensure continuity in governance.

Malam Sa’idu Umar, the PDP governorship candidate, promised that if elected, his administration would give the international market project at Illela the attention it deserved.

Umar stated that he owed special attention to the people of the state as a whole. If elected, he promised to continue Tambuwal’s legacy and to launch more development projects.

Alhaji Mannir Dan’iya, the PDP’s Sokoto North senatorial candidate and incumbent deputy governor, attested to the current administration’s successes in the state.

He urged the people of the state to reciprocate by voting for the PDP, noting that many development projects for Kware LGA were planned in the 2023 budget.
