The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Sunday that Rodney Ambaiowei of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won the Southern-Ijaw Federal Constituency supplementary election in Bayelsa, Nigeria.
According to the results declared by returning officer Prof. Christopher Onyema, PDP candidate Ambaiowei secured 13,992 votes, successfully defeating the incumbent House of Representatives member, Preye Oseke of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 12,992 votes.
In addition, INEC declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Godknows Obein, the winner of the Ogbia Constituency 2 supplementary election for the Bayelsa House of Assembly.
Returning officer Prof. Johnson Ohakwe reported that Obein won with 5,291 votes, surpassing incumbent legislator Munalayefa Gibson of the PDP, who received 4,342 votes.
