The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a 16-year-old boy, Emmanuel John, in connection with the tragic death of his father, Monday John. The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 2, around 10 pm, amidst a heated altercation between the deceased and Emmanuel’s mother, Mrs Mercy John.
According to a police source, Emmanuel allegedly used a pestle to strike his father’s head during the domestic dispute, which ultimately led to his death. The case of culpable homicide was reported to the Karshi Police Station on Wednesday, May 3, by a concerned individual, Yusuf Ayuba.
The FCT Commissioner of Police, Haruna Garba, provided further insight into the incident during a press briefing on Friday. He explained that the suspect intervened in the physical altercation between his parents, siding with his mother and ultimately causing his father’s death with the pestle blow.
Emmanuel John is currently in police custody and will be arraigned in a juvenile court upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation. The case highlights the tragic consequences that can result from domestic disputes and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of seeking help and resolution through non-violent means.
