Hon. Philip Agbese, the representative for Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo federal constituency of Benue State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has emphasized the significance of the 10th House in addressing the expectations of Nigerians. He assured the public that the House, led by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, will not be docile.
In anticipation of the resumption of the House’s plenary session on Tuesday next week after a week-long Sallah holiday, Agbese stated that the joint ticket of Speaker Abbas and his deputy, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, received unanimous endorsement from the members, resulting in their victory with over 350 votes in the elections.
Agbese expressed confidence in the House’s ability to fulfill its mandate, deliver on the expectations of the Nigerian people, and establish a parliament that the international community can be proud of. He emphasized the commitment to delivering on campaign promises and addressing the aspirations of the electorate, particularly the unemployed youth.
The lawmaker acknowledged the advantage of having a fresh crop of representatives in the 10th Assembly, emphasizing that their age should not be mistaken for complacency. He highlighted the visionary leadership of Speaker Abbas and anticipated the unveiling of his legislative agenda in the coming days, which he believes will be easily embraced by the House.
Agbese also commended President Bola Tinubu for the reforms implemented across various sectors of the economy, including the petroleum and security sectors. He supported the removal of fuel subsidy but called for accountability regarding the utilization of subsidy funds over the past eight years.
