The Department of State Services (DSS) has extended an invitation to Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, the suspended Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bawa reportedly arrived at the DSS headquarters a few hours ago. The invitation is linked to ongoing investigative activities concerning his conduct, as stated in a press release by DSS Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, on Wednesday evening.
This development comes in the wake of President Bola Tinubu’s approval of Bawa’s indefinite suspension, allowing for a thorough investigation into his actions while in office. The decision was made due to significant allegations of abuse of power leveled against Bawa, according to a statement by Willie Bassey, the Director of Information at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
As part of the suspension, Bawa has been instructed to promptly hand over the responsibilities of his office to the Director of Operations at the EFCC. The Director will assume the role of overseeing the Chairman’s duties until the investigation reaches its conclusion.
The Department of State Services issued the following press release regarding the invitation:
