The Nigerian movie industry has lost another veteran, Oluyemi Adeyemi popularly known as ‘Suara’.
The veteran was said to have died on Sunday, September 24th. The sad news was officially announced by his grieving family in a statement released on Monday. Adetoun Adeyemi, his son, signed the statement, beseeching the public to respect their privacy during this trying time.
While the cause of Yemi Adeyemi’s demise was not disclosed by the family, they have pledged to provide more information regarding his final rites and funeral arrangements.
Adetoun Adeyemi conveyed the family’s message, stating, “It is with heavy hearts, but with complete submission to God, that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Oluyemi Lawrence Adeyemi, (Suara) who went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023. We are consoled because we know that he has gone to rest. We kindly request that the family be allowed some privacy in this time of grief. More details about the burial will be communicated soon.”
The news of Suara’s passing was also confirmed by one of his industry colleagues, Husseini Shaibu, who expressed his condolences and shared memories of the late actor’s contributions to the Nigerian film landscape.
Shaibu remarked, “I have been reliably informed that veteran actor Chief Yemi Adeyemi aka Suara has transited. Popular as Suara, Chief Adeyemi rode to prominence playing Suara in the long rested ‘Oh Father, Oh Daughter’ series of the hugely popular Super Story stories by Wale Adenuga Productions.
“BabaSuara as some of us his younger colleagues simply called him, reportedly “acted out” this Sunday. Journey well Baba Suara. You will be surely missed. Odigba Sir. Journey Well.”
