President Bola Tinubu, in a striking declaration at the 10th German-Nigerian Business Forum held in Berlin, Germany, proclaimed that he deserves recognition in the prestigious Guinness World Records for the sweeping reforms he has initiated since taking office on May 29, 2023.
With an illustrious career that includes his tenure as the governor of Lagos State from 1999 to 2007, Tinubu asserted that his transformational leadership has uniquely positioned him to assume the presidency.
In his address to an audience of international business leaders, Tinubu emphasized the remarkable turnaround he achieved during his gubernatorial tenure in Lagos State, highlighting that he catapulted the state from obscurity to become the fifth-largest economy on the African continent. He attributed this significant achievement to his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to progress.
“For those who harbor doubts about overcoming obstacles, I stand before you as living proof. I hail from the private sector and share your corporate background, having been trained by the prestigious Deloitte and having served as the treasurer of Exxon Mobil. My commitment to corporate governance knows no bounds,” President Tinubu remarked.
He continued, “I governed Lagos for eight consecutive years, and today, I can proudly assert that Lagos State has ascended to the forefront as the fifth-largest economy in Africa, a remarkable feat considering our humble beginnings. It is this remarkable track record that propelled me to the highest office in the land—the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
President Tinubu further underscored his dedication to delivering on the promises that led to his election, emphasizing his commitment to implementing crucial reforms for the betterment of Nigeria.
“Nigeria placed its trust in me for a reason—to usher in transformative reforms. From the very first day of my inauguration, I have tirelessly pursued these reforms. To me, if my name isn’t etched in the Guinness Book of Records, I will actively seek a way to secure that recognition because I have worked diligently and without expectation. My inaugural speech laid out my vision and the path I would follow,” he asserted confidently.
President Tinubu’s bold statements followed the signing of two pivotal agreements between Nigerian and German companies during the Berlin forum, signifying the strong and growing economic ties between the two nations. The President’s presence at the event highlighted his commitment to fostering international partnerships and spurring economic growth for Nigeria.
As President Tinubu continues to champion reforms and foster international collaborations, his claims to a potential Guinness World Records entry will undoubtedly fuel discussions and debates both within Nigeria and on the global stage.
