An early Sunday morning fire wreaked havoc at the Christ Embassy Church headquarters on Kudirat Abiola Way in Ikeja, Lagos, causing millions of naira in damage.
The fire erupted around 8 am, prompting an immediate response from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA). Thanks to their quick action, the fire was under control by 10 am.
Churchgoers who had gathered for the regular Sunday service scrambled to safety as the blaze spread. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the Lagos Fire and Rescue Service, confirmed the incident and urged calm among the public, assuring them that the situation was under control. “This is to inform Lagosians to be calm. The fire at Christ Embassy Church headquarters in Alausa, Ikeja, is under control right now,” she said.
While the exact cause of the fire is still unknown, Adeseye emphasized that their team was on the ground ensuring everyone’s safety. “As of the time of this report, no loss of life has been recorded. We are on the ground ensuring the safety of lives and property. The fire is still on but under control. Let us remain calm as the rescue operation continues.”
The incident has left the church community in shock, but the prompt response from emergency services prevented a greater disaster.
