President Bola Tinubu is set to address the nation in a broadcast on Democracy Day, scheduled for 7 am on Wednesday.

This announcement was made by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja.

The statement partly reads, “Television, radio, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to plug into the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) for the broadcast.”

Previously, the Federal Government had declared Wednesday, June 12, 2024, as a public holiday in honor of Democracy Day.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced this on behalf of the Federal Government and extended congratulations to Nigerians on the occasion.

He encouraged citizens to uphold the principles of democratic governance and reflect on the contributions of the founding fathers in ensuring Nigeria remains a united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible nation.

The minister also urged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to recognize the progress made and look forward to a brighter future for the country’s democracy.

Reaffirming President Tinubu’s commitment to implementing positive reforms aimed at reviving the economy and enhancing security, Tunji-Ojo wished all Nigerians a Happy Democracy Day celebration.
