Tai Solarin University Suspends Exams After Student's Death

The management of Tai Solarin University of Education in Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State has suspended the ongoing second-semester examinations following the tragic killing of a student.

On Wednesday, a final-year student, Ahmed Ayinla Fabiyi, from the History and Diplomatic Studies department, was reportedly dragged out of the examination hall, beaten, and killed by suspected cultists while seated for his final paper.

In a statement released on Thursday by Deputy Registrar Babatunde Odugbesan, the university announced the indefinite suspension of all examinations.

“The university management has directed the suspension of all examinations previously scheduled for Thursday, July 4, and Friday, July 5, 2024, until further notice,” the statement read.

The statement also assured students of their safety and urged them to remain calm as investigations continue to uncover the details of the attack.

“Please note and be guided accordingly. Management will issue further notices on the resumption of examinations,” the statement concluded.
