The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has sent 50 tons of humanitarian aid to Nigeria, in support of those affected by the recent floods. The Nigerian federal government confirmed the receipt of the relief materials on Sunday.
Speaking at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Ambassador Salem Alshamsi emphasized that the initiative, led by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed Al Nahyan, demonstrates the UAE’s continued commitment to providing assistance to countries hit by natural disasters.
The relief items were received by officials from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar, Director-General of NEMA, expressed deep gratitude for the UAE’s support, noting that the multi-million-naira relief effort would enhance the Federal Government’s ongoing programs aimed at helping flood victims recover from the disaster.
In a similar vein, Ahmed Dunoma, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, extended President Bola Tinubu’s appreciation for the UAE’s generous gesture, acknowledging the strong diplomatic and bilateral relations between the two nations.
