CAN National Music Director Abducted While on Church Visit

Renowned Christian Music Composer Jude Nnam Kidnapped in Anambra

Jude Nnam, a celebrated Christian music composer and National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has been reportedly kidnapped in Umunnachi, Anambra State. The abduction occurred on Thursday evening around 6 p.m. while Nnam was visiting the state for a church function.

Nnam, fondly referred to as “Ancestor,” is a prominent figure in Christian liturgical music and a member of the National Liturgical Commission, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN). His abduction has sparked widespread concern among the Christian community.

The news was first shared by Rev. Fr. Augustine Mario on his Facebook page on Friday. He wrote, “Please kindly keep Sir Dr. Jude Nnam (Ancestor) in your prayers. He was allegedly kidnapped yesterday evening around 6 p.m. in Umunnachi, Anambra State. May God grant him safety and quick release from his abductors. Amen.”

Another Catholic priest, expressing frustration over the incident, posted, “If this is true, then it is a huge shame. I’m simply tired of this unfortunate space called Nigeria. Jude Nnam Ancestor! It is well.”

Jude Nnam, who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, is well-known for his contributions to church music and liturgical events. Just last week, he ministered at the ‘Unusual Praise 2024’ program held at the Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity in Onitsha.

As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the abduction, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the matter.
