Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has landed in South Africa to participate in the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC). The summit, co-chaired by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, focuses on strengthening ties between the two nations through discussions across multiple sectors.
The President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, confirmed Tinubu’s arrival in a video shared on Tuesday, December 3.

The commission’s deliberations are divided into eight working groups targeting key areas of mutual interest:

- Consular and migration issues to address mobility and citizen protection.
- Banking and finance to enhance economic cooperation.
- Defence and security for improved regional safety measures.
- Manufacturing to explore industrial growth.
- Social sector initiatives aimed at healthcare, education, and cultural exchange.
- Mines and energy to tap into shared natural resources.
- Trade and investments to boost economic opportunities.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission was established to foster collaboration between Africa’s two largest economies. This year’s session is expected to yield agreements aimed at addressing shared challenges, including trade imbalances, security concerns, and opportunities for investment.
