Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, operating under Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully neutralized several bandits in Yar Galadima village, Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The swift response followed a distress call from local residents and vigilantes.
According to a statement issued by the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Center, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdulahi, the operation was launched after a 5 a.m. alert on December 1, 2024. Troops from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hanutara encountered the bandits at two ambush points while advancing toward the village.
“With resilience and tactical superiority, the troops mobilized to the ambush sites, neutralising several attackers, as others fled with various degrees of gunshot injuries,” the statement read.
The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma provided vital close air support during the mission, targeting the fleeing terrorists to ensure they had no avenue of escape.
The successful operation has restored calm to the area, reaffirming the Joint Task Force’s commitment to eradicating terrorist threats across the North West region and parts of Niger State.
Lt. Col. Abdulahi reiterated the operation’s resolve to protect lives and secure communities, assuring residents of continued vigilance and rapid responses to emerging threats.
