The Lagos State Government on Monday re-arraigned notorious convicted kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, before a Lagos High Court in Ikeja over the murder of two police officers.

Evans was re-arraigned alongside his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, on a fresh five-count charge bordering on murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
Both men pleaded not guilty to the charges when read before Justice A. O. Ogala.
This case is one of five separate criminal cases Evans is facing in Lagos alone. He has already been convicted in two other kidnapping-related cases, one of which earned him a life sentence.
The new charges relate to a violent encounter involving the murder of two police officers, allegedly orchestrated by Evans and his gang during one of their high-profile kidnapping operations.
The case was adjourned for further proceedings, as the state government continues to press charges against the embattled crime kingpin.
